Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Project Officer to join the Education for Empowerment (EfE) Programme Team. This role focuses on the implementation of the 3-year Danida-funded Christmas Calendar Project in East Gonja District. The project aims to enable out-of-school children in hard-to-reach communities access quality basic education using the Wing School model.
Location and Reporting
The position is based in Salaga (East Gonja District) and reports directly to the Project Coordinator stationed there.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct community outreach and animation for the Christmas Calendar Project
- Lead and facilitate training sessions for community teachers
- Monitor, supervise, and encourage community teachers to perform effectively
- Promote accountability and good governance among community partners
- Ensure cost-efficiency and value for money in project transactions, proposals, and budgets, providing timely feedback on school and community issues
- Strengthen partnerships between IBIS, Ghana Education Service (GES), and District Assembly (DA)
- Provide effective leadership to support teamwork within the project
Qualifications and Experience
- A first degree in Education, Development Studies, or Sociology
- Professional teaching qualification
- Minimum of two years working experience with rural communities, NGOs, and in education
- Proficient in computer applications, especially Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in facilitation, supervision, and managing project activities
- Knowledge of gender analysis principles
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Gonja and other local languages such as Nawuri and Likpakpaln
- Initiative-driven and proactive in advancing project goals in the district
- Familiar with the customs and traditions of Northern Ghana
- Ability to ride a motorcycle
