Job description
Role overview
GHD is expanding its renewables and power generation work, supported by strong demand from long-term clients. The business is seeking a Project Manager to join its national Delivery Phase Services (DPS) team in Brisbane.
This position goes beyond project delivery alone. The successful person will help bring in new work, strengthen relationships with clients, and then guide projects through to successful completion. Your sector expertise, professional network, and market credibility will be important in growing GHD’s project delivery presence across renewables and power generation.
The role is primarily based in the Brisbane office, with occasional travel to site when needed and with advance notice.
What you will work on
- Helping secure new work by using existing industry relationships and market visibility.
- Developing and deepening connections with developers, contractors, and OEMs.
- Supporting bids, proposals, and pursuits, and helping maintain a healthy DPS pipeline.
- Managing project delivery through the execution stage.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver strong client outcomes.
- Coordinating with site teams and contractors.
Key requirements
- At least 15 years of Project Manager experience in renewables or power generation, including delivery through development and execution phases, with particular exposure to wind projects in Australia.
- Proven capability to identify opportunities, pursue them, and turn them into secured work.
- Background in an engineering consulting environment.
- Established industry relationships on the client, contractor, or OEM side.
- Experience preparing proposals, budgets, and schedules for execution-stage projects.
- Strong attention to detail, along with solid analytical and problem-solving ability.
- A strong commitment to safety in every aspect of work.
- Construction management or site experience is considered an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant field.
Additional responsibilities and expectations
- Develop new business opportunities through your established network of clients and subcontractors.
- Take ownership of assigned bids and help lead business development activity.
- Manage the project end to end, from commencement through to final close-out.
- Build trusted relationships with clients and internal teams to support collaboration and delivery of project objectives.
- Prepare project management plans and ensure technical compliance, governance, lessons learned capture, and process improvement.
- Protect project safety, scope, cost, quality, schedule, and financial performance while enabling the team to do its best work.
- Work alongside site-based teams and contractors.
- Mentor junior team members and help foster a culture of safety, innovation, sustainability, and collaboration.
Why this role stands out
- Contribute to major wind, solar, BESS, and gas-fired power generation projects across Australia.
- Join an agile national team with strong culture, varied projects, and valued clients.
- Be part of a 90+ year employee-owned global organisation with 11,000+ people and deep expertise across power generation and renewable energy.
