Job description
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead power plant projects, with a preference for candidates knowledgeable in Biomass Gasification Projects. This position involves overseeing all phases from planning to commissioning, ensuring successful, timely completion within budget and quality standards. Key qualifications include robust leadership abilities, comprehensive technical expertise in power plant systems, and significant project management experience in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and implement power plant projects encompassing construction, upgrades, upkeep, or shutdowns.
- Define detailed project scopes, create schedules using MS Project or Primavera, develop budgets, and conduct risk analysis.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and safety.
- Engage and communicate with stakeholders such as utilities, regulatory agencies, EPC contractors, consultants, and company leadership.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, environmental laws, and best industry practices.
- Monitor project metrics and report progress, costs, and challenges to senior management regularly.
- Maintain project documentation, manage contracts, handle change orders, and oversee procurement activities.
- Identify risks in advance and implement mitigation strategies to prevent delays and cost overruns.
- Support commissioning and ensure smooth handover of operational systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
- At least 7 to 10 years managing projects in the power generation or energy industry.
- Demonstrated success in delivering medium-scale industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of power plant components such as turbines, boilers, generators, and electrical infrastructure.
- Skilled in project management software like MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Familiar with safety (OSHA), environmental (EPA), and regulatory standards (NERC).
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with EPC contract frameworks.
- Background in conventional (thermal, gas, nuclear) or renewable (Biomass Gasification) power projects.
- Knowledge of permitting and regulatory compliance within the energy sector.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to travel to various project sites, including remote and hazardous locations.
- Ability to perform duties in outdoor and industrial settings as required.
