Job description
Role overview
The Tsui Group is hiring an experienced Project Manager IV to support its aviation program in Los Angeles County. In this position, you will serve as the main IT point of contact and the airport/owner representative, working directly with IMT leadership and relevant owners.
The role calls for deep technical knowledge of airport terminal IT environments, especially network infrastructure used for design, delivery, and commissioning. The successful candidate should also bring substantial system-integrator experience across passenger processing, terminal operations, baggage handling, building automation, lighting control, aircraft guidance, and ramp management systems. You will work alongside internal teams, airline partners, LAWA stakeholders, and contractors to keep IT work aligned across multiple terminals and maintain consistency throughout the program.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the lead liaison for ITM, guiding and overseeing implementation of the IT scope.
- Serve as the primary contact for CBP and TSA on IT infrastructure and integration needs.
- Examine and confirm cost estimates tied to IT scope, implementation, and system integration work.
- Monitor the construction, fit-out, and commissioning of IT rooms, network systems, and both horizontal and backbone cabling.
- Work with contractors and IMT system owners to coordinate migration, integration, and commissioning activities end to end.
- Facilitate integration workshops through deployment and final commissioning for terminal systems including passenger processing, CCTV, access control (ACAMS), flight information, baggage handling, public address, Wi-Fi, VDGS, emergency notification, ramp services management, and other new IT solutions.
- Facilitate integration workshops through deployment and final commissioning for building and mechanical systems such as building automation, lighting controls, power metering and controls, conveyance monitoring, and FMCS at the central utility plant.
- Coordinate with the LAWA cybersecurity team and contractors’ IT providers to ensure integrations meet ecosystem and security requirements.
- Partner with designers, contractors, and stakeholders to plan construction sequencing and identify key milestones and priorities.
- Verify that all work follows the latest approved drawings, specifications, revisions, submittals, and RFIs, and that inspections are completed accordingly.
- Work with core project stakeholders to develop and execute recovery plans when delays or major scope changes arise.
- Attend and contribute to required coordination meetings with designers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Oversee IT system closeout activities so documentation is completed promptly and the project can be closed efficiently without unnecessary cost.
- Maintain a work environment that exceeds standard safety expectations.
- Take on additional duties as required.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience, ideally with airport-related projects.
- Prior involvement in projects valued at more than $100 million.
- Experience with multiple delivery approaches, including Progressive Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR, and similar methods.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a leadership or management role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with solid knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
- A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or another related technical discipline is required.
- Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, PMI-SP, or similar credentials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
- Working familiarity with digital content management systems and airport IT platforms.
- Exposure to CAD or Revit is an advantage.
Benefits and compensation
- Annual salary range of $219,000 to $224,000.
- Medical, vision, and dental coverage paid at 100% for the employee.
