Legend Biotech has a worldwide collaboration with Janssen, a Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company, to jointly develop and commercialize ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel). This partnership combines the expertise of both organizations to further advance immunotherapy for multiple myeloma.

Role overview

The company is hiring a Project Manager, External Engagement (Contractor) for its Commercial team in Bridgewater, NJ. Reporting to the Executive Director, External Engagement, this person will oversee several projects at once using structured project management methods, including timelines, milestone tracking, and daily progress monitoring. The role requires regular updates to leadership through weekly reporting and ad hoc status updates.

Key responsibilities

  • Set the project boundaries, objectives, and deliverables for each assigned initiative in partnership with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Create comprehensive project plans along with supporting communication materials.
  • Spot possible risks early and put preventive plans in place.
  • Keep affected teams informed about project changes, including revised duties, deadlines, and target dates.
  • Work with Legal, Compliance, and Medical Affairs teams to align on budget and other regulatory or legal needs.
  • Build and maintain project monitoring routines such as team meetings, follow-ups on action items, meeting notes, and tracking resolutions.
  • Coordinate internal contributors to support project execution and management.
  • Handle workflow documents and other project-related records.
  • Partner with executives and department leaders on strategy and budgeting discussions.
  • Maintain an effective issue-resolution process for concerns such as scope changes or missed deadlines, and help resolve conflicts through collaboration and practical solutions.
  • Prepare weekly project reporting.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two to four years of experience in project management, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • More than two years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
  • Self-starter attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and communicate clearly with stakeholders across different levels, functions, and organizations.
  • Proficiency with project management tools, including Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and execution capabilities.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • Proven skill in identifying, ranking, and escalating important issues to executive leadership when needed.
  • Ability to track and manage timelines effectively.
  • Capability to assess complex situations, solve problems, and respond to challenges proactively.
  • Track record of handling multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Ability to coordinate demands from multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-pressure, milestone-oriented environment.
  • A strong sense of ethics and trustworthiness.
