Director, Global HR Project Management Office (PMO)

About the Role

The Director of the Global HR Project Management Office (PMO) is instrumental in advancing the strategic priorities within the Global HR function by overseeing the portfolio of programs and vendor contracts. This role drives excellence in project management practices, processes, and tools to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. The Director provides expertise and leadership in project execution, setting standards for project and portfolio governance, while heading vendor management by establishing annual priorities and governance control. Collaboration with diverse internal stakeholders across all organizational levels is a key aspect of this position.

The preferred job locations are Toronto or Montreal, Canada.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and embed a culture centered on project management, defining the PMO's vision and goals.
• Develop and sustain project and portfolio delivery processes, tools, templates, and best practices.
• Implement effective project governance throughout the project lifecycle, adapting to changing environments.
• Create and maintain action plans to boost project efficiency in partnership with stakeholders.
• Encourage project management training and continuous learning initiatives.
• Foster the sharing of lessons learned and best practices.
• Oversee the management of the project portfolio including prioritization and yearly budget planning.
• Maintain robust relationships with all groups involved in projects.
• Conduct comprehensive project and portfolio reviews alongside project teams and executives.
• Lead governance activities and monitor performance metrics at both project and portfolio levels.
• Evaluate project managers' skill levels and classify project complexities accordingly.
• Provide coaching and support to project managers and project coordinators.
• Head vendor management operations, setting annual priorities collaboratively with Global Procurement and HR to optimize vendor cost savings.
• Supervise teams to ensure contract agreements yield new savings.
• Ensure compliance with OMF contract approvals supporting Global Procurement and HR teams.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all contracts under Global HR’s responsibility.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant project and portfolio management experience within a global organization.
• Strong strategic thinking related to portfolio management and project governance.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder influence skills in English; proficiency in French is highly advantageous due to bilingual interactions.
• Demonstrated financial acumen and business understanding.
• Proven leadership and coaching capabilities.
• Effective relationship management skills with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
• A mindset focused on continual process improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Visio, project management software, and SharePoint.

Compensation & Additional Information

The estimated salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $175,000, depending on skills, geographic location, experience, training, and certifications. This is an active vacancy.
