About Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on making high-quality education available free of cost to learners everywhere. The organization serves millions of students each month and continues to grow quickly while building a strong collection of instructional and practice materials that help learners study at their own pace.
About Khan Academy India
Khan Academy India works to deliver a locally relevant, world-class learning experience for students in India. Its master-based learning approach helps learners build understanding step by step before moving on to more advanced topics. The platform now reaches nearly 4 million learners every month through websites, apps, and YouTube, including both self-directed learners at home and teacher-led learners in schools. The team is also focused on improving access for underserved communities by expanding into local languages and partnering with large public school systems. The content is already available in Assamese, Hindi, Hinglish, Kannada, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, and Punjabi.
About the India Schools Team
The Schools Team partners with government education systems to improve learning outcomes by helping teachers and students use the Khan Academy platform effectively. Through these partnerships, the team reached 2 million learners in the last year and worked with 65,000+ schools across multiple states. The long-term goal is to scale this impact to more than five million learners within five years.
The team operates in a lean, collaborative manner, building implementation plans and supporting partners throughout the process. It provides training, resources, and peer-learning support for teachers and administrators, while continuously improving through feedback, data analysis, and effectiveness studies.
About the Role
Khan Academy India is seeking a driven consultant to join the Schools Team as Project Lead for its government-school programme in Uttar Pradesh. The position is based in Lucknow and involves working with the Regional Head, North to lead programme implementation in coordination with the Department of School Education, Lucknow. You will also collaborate closely with internal teams such as Content, Partner Operations, Teacher Professional Development, and Data and Efficacy to help ensure the programme is delivered successfully and at a high standard.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate programme rollout with the Regional Head, North and the state nodal officer to support implementation of the Khan Academy platform across government schools in Uttar Pradesh.
- Take complete ownership of assigned workstreams and deliver against agreed objectives and timelines.
- Plan, deliver, and support training sessions for education officials, programme mentors, administrative staff, and teachers on a recurring basis.
- Track how trainings are implemented, identify gaps and challenges, and use those insights to strengthen the programme for teachers over time.
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with government stakeholders including nodal officers, state resource persons, district officers, and school-level stakeholders.
- Use data and implementation feedback to support better decision-making throughout the programme.
- Carry out field visits regularly, about 3–4 times a week, and maintain frequent contact with officers and teachers to gather school-level insights that can improve adoption and usage.
- Document all state-level discussions in a consistent format and keep internal and external stakeholders updated.
- Review qualitative feedback from the state system to help improve the team’s learning and decision-making.
- Work with other Khan Academy India teams to ensure smooth and timely programme delivery.
- Support any additional programme needs as required.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate brings at least 5 years of relevant experience. Experience as an educator or in work related to government schools in Uttar Pradesh will be considered an advantage. The role requires fluency in both Hindi and English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
You should be comfortable working collaboratively, building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and handling complex situations while making decisions that align with shared goals. Strong organisational ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities at once are important.
You should also be able to gather information from several sources, document it clearly, and present it in a useful format in both English and Hindi. Comfort with data is essential, including the ability to work with large datasets, identify patterns, and draw practical conclusions based on evidence, while also interpreting qualitative feedback and adapting plans accordingly.
Strong communication skills are important, including the ability to tailor messages for different audiences across email, written documents, presentations, and face-to-face conversations. The role also suits someone who learns quickly, thrives in ambiguous environments, enjoys experimentation, and is action-oriented. A willingness to contribute hands-on as the team grows is expected, along with a strong interest in education and improving outcomes for learners.
You must be comfortable being based in Lucknow and travelling regularly to schools across Uttar Pradesh.
Application Process
Applicants are expected to submit a resume or LinkedIn URL along with responses to the assignment tasks provided in the application flow. Two tasks must be completed as part of the process: one on data analysis and one on Hindi writing skills. The detailed instructions for both assignments are provided through their respective links.
Equal Opportunity
The organisation is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
