Project Engineer - Rail Systems and Signaling (Saudi Arabia)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Project Engineer specializing in Rail Systems and Signaling with at least three years of relevant experience to contribute to the successful execution of rail infrastructure projects under a Project Management Consultancy framework. This position is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with a preference for Saudi nationals.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and scrutinize the design, installation, testing, and commissioning phases of rail systems and signaling components.
• Assist the PMC team in supervising contractor performance, ensuring timely progress, monitoring technical submissions, and validating contract compliance.
• Coordinate the integration points between signaling and other rail disciplines including track infrastructure, telecommunications, SCADA, electrical power supply, rolling stock, and civil engineering works.
• Evaluate method statements, inspection test plans, shop drawings, material proposals, and other technical documents.
• Monitor project schedules vigilantly to detect risks, delays, or technical complications affecting deliverables.
• Engage actively in design assessments, technical discussions, site inspections, factory and site acceptance tests, as well as commissioning efforts.
• Ensure adherence to international standards, project specifications, safety requirements, and local regulations in all signaling and rail system activities.
• Manage project interfaces, oversee change requests, address non-conformance reports, and resolve technical inquiries.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, progress summaries, minutes of meetings, risk registries, and coordination records for PMC and client stakeholders.
• Support the implementation of quality assurance and control measures relevant to rail and signaling works.
• Collaborate closely with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and quality teams to guarantee safe and compliant execution.
• Assist in planning and readiness evaluations for testing and commissioning of signaling and rail system packages.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Railway Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least three years of practical experience in rail systems or signaling engineering.
• Background in PMC roles, supervision, design review, or project delivery for rail or metro projects.
• Knowledge of signaling technologies such as CBTC, interlocking, ATP, ATS, axle counters, and track circuits is an advantage.
• Understanding of multi-disciplinary rail systems integration and interfaces.
• Familiarity with testing and commissioning procedures for signaling and rail systems.
• Awareness of international railway regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
• Preference is given to Saudi nationals.
