Overview

The Project Engineer specializing in Civil & Structural engineering plays a pivotal role in assisting the planning, coordination, execution, and supervision of construction projects. This position ensures that all works adhere to safety standards, timelines, quality benchmarks, and comply fully with approved plans, specifications, and relevant regulations. Acting as a critical point of contact among project management, consultants, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and site teams enables seamless project progression.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily onsite construction activities and operations.
  • Examine construction drawings and technical documentation, resolving design and construction-related challenges.
  • Track project progress, workforce deployment, productivity levels, and resource usage effectively.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors ensuring adherence to contractual terms, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to perform quality assessments, address defects, and facilitate authority inspections.
  • Handle preparation and upkeep of all project-related documentation including reports, submissions, RFIs, and technical records.
  • Maintain liaison with consultants, authorities, suppliers, and all stakeholders to address project-related concerns.
  • Assist in contract administration tasks such as managing variation orders (VO), extension of time requests (EOT), processing progress claims, and tracking costs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with workplace safety requirements, internal standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Building and Construction Authority (BCA) regulations.
  • Identify potential project risks, delays, or technical obstacles and propose effective resolutions.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • At least three years of practical experience in civil and structural construction projects, preferably in a site-based role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction drawings, project coordination, quality control, authority submissions, and BCA guidelines.
  • Strong communication abilities coupled with effective problem-solving, time management, and coordination skills.
