Job description
Role overview
The Irish Red Cross is seeking a Project Coordinator to lead its employment services work. This position sits within the Integration programme area and reports to the Programme Manager - Integration. The post is a specified-purpose full-time contract for one year, with a possible extension depending on funding.
The coordinator will drive the design, rollout and ongoing improvement of employment support services linked to the Ukraine Accommodation Programme, the EMERge initiative funded through the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), and any additional funding streams that may become available. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external partners, plus direct line management of a small staff team.
Based at IRC Head Office in Dublin, the job includes some travel to delivery locations in Dublin and across Ireland. It is a chance to help shape a growing employment-focused service line and contribute to improved outcomes for migrants in Ireland.
About the organisation
The Irish Red Cross Society is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the world’s largest independent humanitarian network. Its work is grounded in the Fundamental Principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The organisation’s purpose is to provide humanitarian support to people in need, both in Ireland and internationally.
Migration is a strategic priority for the IRC, and the organisation is expanding its work in integration, housing, resettlement and employability support for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants.
Key responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will be expected to take ownership of programme planning, service development, implementation, reporting and team leadership.
- Build a detailed understanding of participant needs through direct engagement, existing assessments and supporting documentation.
- Conduct scoping exercises and needs analyses that reflect migrant perspectives.
- Develop or commission curriculum materials for employment skills sessions.
- Shape employer engagement routes and volunteer-led support approaches.
- Contribute to service growth and funding proposal development.
- Lead planning for the project, including objectives, outputs and activity plans.
- Create weekly or monthly delivery schedules as required to maintain structure and readiness.
- Share regular progress updates with management and relevant stakeholders, and escalate concerns promptly where needed.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and clear communication.
- Deliver project actions in line with plans and technical guidance.
- Oversee procurement and manage external supplier contracts so delivery stays on time and within budget.
- Put client feedback processes in place and ensure they are used effectively.
- Manage a team of two to three staff, including one-to-one meetings, development support and performance reviews.
- Work with monitoring and evaluation colleagues to ensure the right data is captured for project management purposes.
- Support finance colleagues with documentation needed for accountability and reporting.
- Assist with budget monitoring and reforecasting.
- Review project data and progress, and prepare reports for internal use and funders.
- Capture learning and recommendations to support future improvement and potential new programming.
- Follow internal and external policies and procedures at all times.
- Work towards the wider goals of the Irish Red Cross and uphold the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
- Carry out other reasonable duties aligned to the role and level of responsibility.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience in migration work, migrant employment services or broader employment services.
- A third-level qualification in a relevant area such as career development, migrant integration, project management, social work or local development.
