Role Overview
This 12-month fixed term contract position offers the opportunity to drive a significant business transformation for a prominent Australian energy company as a Business Analyst within the Technology and Development team. The selected candidate will be central to defining, developing, and delivering financial reporting requirements for a new Core Retail Platform (CRP). Acting as the bridge between Finance and Technology Implementation teams, this role ensures the integrity and readiness of financial data and reports for current and future needs. The role is based in the notable Bryant & May Building in Cremorne, with a hybrid work setup requiring three days on-site and two days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial requirements design, development, and configuration for the Core Retail Platform and associated applications.
- Perform comprehensive Finance requirements mapping with stakeholders and craft functional specifications aligned with financial goals.
- Interpret complex data structures and system logics to develop precise finance reports tailored to the retail energy sector.
- Undertake proactive research and resolve challenges involving estimations and judgement calls.
- Plan and carry out testing to verify that financial systems, data, and reporting outputs conform to business needs.
- Integrate new solutions smoothly into existing Finance workflows to minimize disruption.
- Create thorough finance-related documentation, including process flowcharts and training guides, facilitating effective project closure.
Candidate Profile
- Holds tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or IT fields.
- Experience as a Business Analyst within the Utilities sector, ideally with retail energy exposure.
- Minimum of five years’ business analysis experience, with at least three years in transformation projects such as ERP, billing, or platform implementations.
- Ability to mediate effectively between financial stakeholders and technical developers.
- Strong analytical skills and aptitude for managing complex scopes and priorities meticulously.
- Competence in data analytics, with SQL proficiency considered a plus.
- Demonstrates strong financial analysis, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and outstanding communication abilities.
