Job description
Position Overview
The Eco-Restoration Foundation is looking for a motivated Program Officer to help drive its work across environmental protection, climate action, conservation, blue economy development, and community-focused sustainability initiatives. This role is central to moving projects forward, generating research and knowledge outputs, building strong stakeholder relationships, mobilizing grants, supporting communications, managing partnerships and events, and strengthening the Foundation’s footprint and impact across Africa.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with the design, execution, and tracking of climate, conservation, and sustainable development initiatives.
- Carry out environmental research, review policy materials, and contribute to technical studies and knowledge resources.
- Source funding opportunities and support proposal drafting, fundraising efforts, and donor relationship activities.
- Create written content such as articles, reports, policy briefs, newsletters, and other leadership materials.
- Oversee digital communication efforts, awareness campaigns, and engagement with key stakeholders.
- Organize workshops, conferences, webinars, community discussions, and environmental outreach programs.
- Help build collaborations with government bodies, NGOs, development partners, academic institutions, private sector players, and community organizations.
- Support project tracking, outcome measurement, and reporting aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Represent the Foundation in meetings, conferences, public forums, and stakeholder sessions.
- Contribute to the creation of new initiatives linked to environmental protection, conservation, and nature-based livelihoods.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Geography, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, Marine Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, Environmental Management, or a closely related field.
- Between 3 and 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Clear interest in, and hands-on exposure to, climate action, conservation, environmental sustainability, community development, or nature-based solutions.
- Strong capabilities in research, writing, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and communication.
- Prior exposure to grant support, donor-funded work, environmental programming, or development projects is an advantage.
- Confidence in presentations, social media engagement, and digital communications.
- Ability to work independently while managing several priorities at the same time.
- A strong commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and delivering community impact.
