Job description

Role overview

Airbnb began in 2007 when two hosts opened their San Francisco home to three guests. Since then, the platform has expanded to millions of hosts and billions of guest arrivals across nearly every country. Its core mission is to help people experience communities in a more authentic way through unique stays and experiences.

Team and mission

You will join Airbnb’s public policy function, which works with elected officials, regulators, and legislators to explain Airbnb and the collaborative economy, communicate the social and economic value it brings to local communities, and share effective approaches from around the world. The team focuses on helping policymakers understand the regulatory issues affecting hosts and on developing practical solutions that support cities and local communities.

The policy organization operates through local campaign teams and uses a mix of policy analysis, strategic partnerships, media outreach, community mobilization, digital channels, content, polling, and data and research methods.

Impact of the role

The Program Manager will help advance the priorities of the US & Canada Campaigns Director by supporting strategy execution and coordinating with regional and global campaign partners as well as cross-functional stakeholders.

Key duties

  • Work with the US & Canada Campaigns Director on strategy, analysis presentations, deliverable management, and measurement and reporting for the policy team’s priorities.
  • Oversee the creation and rollout of policy programs while keeping approaches aligned and continuously improving across all regions.
  • Maintain strong communication between local campaign teams and global leadership, while proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with regional campaign teams to produce recurring reporting and tracking materials such as weekly updates, strategic campaign plans, and quarterly policy reports, and ensure milestones and wins are properly documented and shared.
  • Make sure projects and initiatives move forward in line with strategic priorities.
  • Lead significant strategic efforts that require engagement and alignment with senior internal and external stakeholders, including government contacts.
  • Spot operational barriers, process gaps, and effective practices, then recommend improvements that strengthen efficiency across markets and regions.
  • Help build a collaborative, innovative culture across global campaign teams.
  • Handle administrative support as needed, including calendar coordination, meeting preparation, daily prioritization support, travel scheduling, and expense processing.
  • Prepare presentations and reports, research housing and policy topics, draft policy position materials, and conduct ROI assessments.

What you should bring

  • Experience independently leading complex cross-functional programs with senior stakeholders, including situations where you do not have formal authority.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, including political or policy campaign work in the US or Canada, plus a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong planning and organization skills, with a detail-focused and process-oriented approach that helps create clarity in complex settings.
  • Ability to build strategy and connect high-level direction to operational execution that produces measurable results.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities and tight deadlines, while staying focused and making good decisions under pressure.
  • Track record as a coalition builder who can form strong relationships with colleagues and external partners across differing viewpoints and interests.
  • Capability to turn unclear, complicated issues into practical action plans and deliver outcomes for teams and the wider organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both formal and informal settings.
  • Knowledge of North American legislative and regulatory processes, including policy development through government affairs or collaboration with outside counsel and advocacy partners.
