Job description

Job summary

This position is focused on making sure garments leave production in the right condition and in line with the company’s quality expectations. The officer reviews raw materials, watches production at different stages, spots defects, and confirms that finished items match the approved fit, measurements, finishing, and overall look.

Key responsibilities

  • Check fabrics, trims, and other production inputs before work starts.
  • Carry out quality inspections at various points in the production cycle to confirm standards are being followed.
  • Review completed garments for faults such as sewing mistakes, wrong measurements, fabric defects, loose threads, stains, and weak finishing.
  • Confirm that finished pieces match approved samples, measurement charts, and design requirements.
  • Work with tailors, pattern makers, and other production staff to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Record defects and inspection findings, then prepare quality reports.
  • Suggest corrective and preventive measures to reduce repeated defects.
  • Ensure garments are properly pressed, packed, and prepared for dispatch.
  • Keep quality standards consistent across the entire production workflow.
  • Track rework and alterations to confirm the fixes meet the required standard.
  • Support the creation and use of quality control procedures and inspection checklists.
  • Escalate serious quality concerns to management without delay.

Requirements

  • OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Fashion Design, Textile Technology, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in quality control within the fashion or garment manufacturing sector.
  • Solid knowledge of garment construction, sewing methods, fabric types, and finishing processes.
  • Sharp eye for detail and the ability to detect defects quickly.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and within tight production timelines.
  • Good planning, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency will be an advantage.
