Job description
About the Company
The employer is a long-established global fashion and apparel organization with more than four decades of experience spanning wholesale, e-commerce, and marketplace channels. It is privately owned, based in New York City, and also maintains brand offices in California. The business manages a diverse portfolio of international brands focused on strong execution across design, product development, manufacturing, sourcing, distribution, and logistics.
The company works across complete menswear, womenswear, childrenswear, and infant/toddler collections, with particular strength in denim, outerwear, activewear, and loungewear/sleepwear. Its products are supplied to leading retail partners.
Role Overview
This position is for a highly organized Production Manager who can oversee apparel production from start to finish across multiple product categories. The role works closely with Design, Merchandising, Sales, Technical Design, Logistics, agents, and overseas manufacturing partners to ensure products are delivered on schedule, within cost targets, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day coordination and communication with internal teams, agents, and international factories.
Take ownership of Production Tracking Reports and Work-in-Progress reports, spot potential issues early, and help implement recovery actions.
Support costing and margin control by monitoring FOBs, yields, and chargebacks.
Keep seasonal factory allocation plans updated based on capacity, lead times, and risk planning.
Oversee testing and compliance processes, making sure all approvals and supporting documents are complete and ready for audit.
Track sample milestones such as proto, fit, PP, TOP, and salesman samples, and follow up to keep development moving.
Prepare for meetings and fittings, record discussion notes, and circulate action points afterward.
Maintain organized and complete product records, including approvals, purchase orders, PTRs, test documentation, and technical packs.
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in apparel production across several categories, along with prior involvement in sourcing and managing factories or vendors. A solid grasp of costing, margins, and garment construction is important, as is working knowledge of PLM systems, Excel, and technical packages. The role also calls for someone who is self-directed, proactive, and focused on finding practical solutions.
Benefits
Employees can expect medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with 401(k) participation and company-paid life insurance. Additional benefits include paid time off, company holidays, commuter support, a hybrid-flexible work setup, and a family-oriented workplace culture.
