Production Manager - Aircraft Hangar Door Manufacturing

Position Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Production Manager to lead and oversee the manufacturing and timely delivery of large-scale aircraft hangar door systems. This role demands specialized expertise in steel fabrication and production management, preferably within the domains of aircraft hangar doors, industrial door systems, or substantial engineered metal structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the entire production lifecycle for aircraft hangar door assemblies.
• Develop plans for workshop capacity, labor allocation, materials procurement, and production scheduling.
• Oversee critical processes including steel fabrication, welding, assembly, finishing, and quality assurance inspections.
• Ensure all manufacturing adheres strictly to approved drawings, specifications, and project timelines.
• Collaborate closely with design, engineering, procurement, quality control, and installation teams on site.
• Examine fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and production prerequisites.
• Track workshop productivity, manufacturing costs, material usage, and overall operational performance.
• Identify and resolve production risks, bottlenecks, and technical challenges effectively.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, and quality regulations.
• Manage and lead supervisors, fabricators, welders, and assembly personnel.
• Support testing, pre-assembly, packing, and preparation activities for site installation.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives in production methodologies, workflows, and quality standards.

Required Experience and Skills

• Demonstrated background as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or Fabrication Manager.
• Direct experience in aircraft hangar door manufacturing is highly advantageous.
• Comprehensive knowledge of heavy steel or metal fabrication techniques.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing large sliding, folding, telescopic, vertical-lift, or motorized door systems.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Strong grasp of welding processes, assembly work, tolerances, and quality control protocols.
• Proven ability to manage workshop teams, production timelines, and material logistics.
• Excellent coordination skills with engineering, procurement, and installation departments.
• Outstanding leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Prior involvement with airport, aviation, or aircraft maintenance hangar initiatives.
• Familiarity with door-drive mechanisms, motors, control systems, and automation technologies.
• Experience working with structural steel, large-span moving structures, or specialized industrial doors.
• Knowledge of software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Tekla, or ERP/MRP production systems.
• Exposure to international projects is a plus.
