Job description
Opportunity
Auckland Transport is seeking a Product Owner to join its Customer Solutions team. This role focuses on customer-facing products that influence how people travel across Auckland, with the aim of creating smoother, more connected journeys across the transport network.
You will be responsible for driving ongoing enhancements and new initiatives across customer-centric products in a complex, high-impact setting. The position requires collaboration across the business and with external partners to prioritise work, align key stakeholders, and deliver improvements that strengthen the customer experience.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the product strategy, roadmap, and backlog, making sure they support Auckland Transport’s wider customer and organisational goals.
- Turn customer research, behaviour patterns, and insights into initiatives that improve both digital and physical journeys.
- Partner with agile squads and cross-functional teams to prioritise work and deliver outcomes that are valuable and high quality.
- Drive continuous improvement across major customer-facing channels and experiences.
- Promote a customer-first approach by using data, research, and user needs to guide decisions.
What you will bring
- Experience as a Product Owner, or in a comparable role, within an agile environment.
- A solid background in customer experience, product development, end-to-end journeys, or digital innovation.
- Proven ability to influence and work effectively with stakeholders across a large organisation.
- The ability to convert customer needs into clear roadmaps, user stories, and delivery plans.
- A strategic outlook that balances long-term direction with immediate delivery needs.
- Strong capability in interpreting research and data and turning findings into practical actions.
- Well-developed communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
