The company combines deep technical and commercial expertise with broad product coverage, supply chain capability, industry insight, service, advanced ecommerce, and innovation to help customers design, select, process, and develop products that perform better, work more reliably, and support sustainability goals.
Formerra’s strengths include a solutions-oriented mindset, a broad portfolio of engineering thermoplastics and traditional polymers, strong long-term ties with global suppliers, highly specialized technical and design support, and expertise in regulatory-compliant material support.
Role Overview
The Product Manager will lead strategic product marketing activities, including market assessment, segmentation, and multi-year product planning. This person is expected to operate with a high degree of independence, act as a subject matter leader, and influence peers as well as senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

- Build strong relationships across supplier organizations at multiple levels, representing Formerra’s interests while remaining a collaborative and trusted partner.
- Align supplier strategies with Formerra’s business strategy and strengthen cross-functional coordination across commercial, marketing, and supply chain teams to support growth.
- Monitor distribution contracts and prepare renewal or extension strategies well before expiration, with attention to terms that create greater value for Formerra such as margin improvement, payment terms, and product access.
- Influence suppliers to route direct business through Formerra or move business from other distributors by developing persuasive proposals.
- Manage relationships with selected strategic suppliers, including cost and logistics negotiations, regular sales and pipeline reporting, corrective action planning for underperformance, and communication of product, policy, and pricing changes.
- Ensure suppliers maintain acceptable quality standards and an efficient ease of doing business.
- Lead business review meetings with the right cadence and level of detail.
- Respond promptly and effectively to quote requests from the commercial team.
Performance Objectives
- Grow distribution sales volume for assigned suppliers.
- Increase distribution margin dollars from assigned supplier business.
- Meet supplier expectations to keep Formerra in distributor status.
- Maintain a healthy and accurate sales funnel.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business or engineering is preferred, although equivalent experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of experience in product management, P&L, procurement, or commercial roles, ideally within the plastics industry.
- Solid understanding of the distribution business model, key industries, customer groups, products, and chemistries.
- Working knowledge of financial concepts such as revenue, margins, and working capital.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical capability.
- Experience in negotiation and contract management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable presenting to large audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness and ability to travel 1 to 3 times per month.
