Product Manager

About the Role

Iron Sheepdog is looking for a highly autonomous and motivated Product Manager ready to oversee the entire product lifecycle. You will be the primary representative of customer needs, bridging communication between users, company executives, and engineering teams. Initially, you will be the only product team member responsible for owning all product duties within a dynamic, lean startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth customer interviews and research with brokers, haulers, and contractors to uncover fundamental pain points and understand users' core motivations.
• Manage the entire product backlog by crafting clear and actionable epics and requirements, enabling the engineering team to concentrate on implementation.
• Serve as the definitive voice of the customer, alleviating leadership such as the CTO, COO, VP of Engineering, and Head of Software Operations from day-to-day requirements gathering.
• Utilize UI/UX design expertise and hands-on experience with design tools to develop wireframes and mockups that facilitate engineering discussions and validate concepts before development.
• Apply a data-driven approach to product management, using feature analytics to assess user behavior, evaluate success, and guide strategic prioritization.
• Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure solutions are well-suited to the Node.js and Firebase tech stack and align with the company's lean engineering principles.
• Define and refine essential fintech workflows involving payment gateways, escrow mechanisms, or complex financial processes to ensure smooth payment experiences.
• Perform ongoing market and competitor analysis to keep Iron Sheepdog’s offerings ahead and aligned with a five-year growth strategy.
• Integrate generative AI tools into daily product management tasks to enhance feature ideation, streamline synthesis of customer research, and support AI-assisted design and wireframing.

Required Qualifications

• At least 4 years of professional product management experience, preferably within high-paced environments or startup cultures.
• Experience or strong preference for B2B SaaS or construction logistics sectors.
• Capability to operate autonomously as a solo product team member managing broad responsibilities.
• Proficient hands-on usage of design tools like Figma, Balsamiq, Sketch, or AI-based design platforms for wireframe and mockup creation.
• Strong analytical skills with a commitment to data-driven decision-making.

Desirable Skills

• Background in construction, short-haul trucking, or logistics, especially platforms focused on truck routing and fleet dispatch.
• Experience with analytics platforms such as Amplitude and business intelligence tools like BigQuery or Data Studio.
• Basic understanding of Firebase or serverless cloud architectures.
• Interest or experience in applying Artificial Intelligence pragmatically to enhance user experiences without overcomplicating systems.
