Job description

About Aware Super

Aware Super is one of Australia’s largest profit-to-members superannuation funds. The organisation focuses on protecting members’ money and helping shape their futures, with a mission centered on members, communities, and broader social impact.

Role Overview

There is an opening for a Product Manager focused on Tailored Insurance and Defined Benefits within the Product & Insurance Practice. The role is central to shaping and delivering customised insurance and defined benefit solutions for employer groups, helping the business attract new clients and stay competitive.

You will oversee the full lifecycle of these offerings, from concept and proposition design through implementation and continuous improvement. The position requires solutions that are commercially strong, compliant, and designed to achieve positive outcomes for members.

In addition, you will support tender activity, prepare persuasive proposals, and help drive new business growth in close collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver tailored insurance and defined benefit propositions that align with the needs of employers and members.
  • Assist with tender submissions and new business opportunities by preparing and reviewing high-quality proposal material.
  • Work with Acquisition & Growth and Corporate Development teams on mergers, transitions, and other growth initiatives.
  • Review and improve tailored product solutions so they remain commercially competitive, compliant, and appropriate for their intended purpose.
  • Coordinate with insurers, advisers, and internal stakeholders to achieve effective commercial outcomes.
  • Support Board and management reporting by providing insights into product performance and areas of opportunity.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on tailored insurance strategy, defined benefit maintenance, member experience, and value-stream initiatives.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of insurance, superannuation, and defined benefit products.
  • Proven background in tender support, proposal writing, and new business development in financial services.
  • Exposure to proposition design, employer solutions, mergers, or large-scale transition projects.
  • Ability to manage several stakeholders and deliver results in complex and changing environments.
  • Commercially minded, with attention on growth, retention, and member outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce compelling client-focused proposals.
  • Interest in supporting the company’s growth and helping simplify superannuation.
  • Comfort with balanced risk decisions, including the ability to assess risk context and speak up when needed.

Perks and Work Experience

  • Flexible working approach that recognises different ways of working and supports work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes for Australian members in retirement.
  • Chance to work on career-defining projects in a business focused on reshaping superannuation and retirement.
  • Collaborative team culture with room for innovation and enjoyment at work.
  • Wellbeing support, including a health and fitness reimbursement.
  • Reimbursement for work-from-home technology.
  • Salary continuance insurance.
  • Organisation-wide meeting-free zones.

Diversity and Inclusion

Aware Super values diversity of thought, background, and experience as a way to improve outcomes for members and communities and build a stronger sense of belonging. Applications are encouraged from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, and mature-age candidates. The organisation is also recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality, and its CEO is a Pay Equity Ambassador.
