Job description
Role Overview
SICK Sensor Intelligence is looking for a Product Manager to steer product portfolio decisions, shape market strategy, and coordinate activities across development, sales, marketing, and business leadership in Singapore.
Strategic Assessment
- Track competitor movements affecting the assigned product portfolio and identify meaningful strategic shifts.
- Monitor technology developments and regulatory changes that may influence the portfolio.
- Observe changing customer needs, assess their effect on portfolio appeal, and adjust the offering accordingly.
- Apply UX approaches to better understand user expectations, uncover unmet needs, test assumptions, and strengthen solution concepts with fresh insights.
Midterm and Budget Planning
- Recommend concrete actions that support the strategic goals set by the Head of Product Management, Head of Business Unit, or Business Cluster Management during midterm planning.
- Contribute to strategic goal-setting, analysis, and the data preparation needed for midterm planning, including financial planning, roadmaps, and prioritization.
Product Development Process
- Coordinate with stakeholders such as Marketing Product Managers and Sales teams, while representing customer requirements, target applications, value propositions, and the market component of the business case, especially for portfolio extensions.
- Work closely with the project team as an ongoing member to drive product and market success, use UX methods to keep solutions user-centered and testable, help set priorities, and improve transparency around business-case impacts when project scope changes.
- Use knowledge of the company development process to support the project team effectively.
Product Launch Process
- Own the full launch process, including digital product data, sales content, value proposition materials, pre-launch tasks, training assets, and feedback collection.
- Carry out product launches and ensure execution is completed successfully.
Product Lifecycle
- Continuously review portfolio performance to ensure appropriate positioning and pricing across markets, while identifying misunderstandings or drawbacks and proposing corrective actions or growth opportunities.
- Generate ideas for product extensions and adaptations using customer research, including UX-based methods, and develop the business scenario needed for implementation approval.
- Manage the portfolio through KPI tracking and coordinate with demand planning, slow-moving inventory reduction, and manufacturing cost improvement activities.
- Spot low-performing portfolio variants and proactively align with stakeholders on either phaseout decisions or sales push campaigns.
- Enhance product training materials for sales teams and customers.
- Provide input for marketing campaigns and related marketing activities.
- Keep product information current across the company website and digital databases.
Product Phaseout
- Prepare phaseout assessments covering the current state, business impact, risk-benefit balance, and application context, and support the Head of Business Unit or Group Leader in the final phaseout decision.
- Develop phaseout plans and replacement strategies, and ensure final end-of-service communication is delivered.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of product management experience, including responsibility for managing a product portfolio.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
- Strong analytical ability, strategic thinking, and effective communication and presentation skills.
- Prior experience in customer-facing responsibilities and cross-functional teamwork.
- Knowledge of automation systems, including sensors, controllers, and software platforms used in industrial automation, will be an added advantage.
