About Studio Empathy

Studio Empathy is a multidisciplinary design studio that works across industrial design, product development, prototyping, 3D printing, vacuum casting, and manufacturing. The team helps turn ideas into practical products that are ready for the market and built for different industries.

Role Overview

We are hiring a motivated Product Design Intern who enjoys building, creating, and solving real-world challenges through design. In this studio-based internship in Pune, you will contribute to live client work and gain practical exposure to the full product development journey, from early concepts to physical prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support brainstorming and early-stage product concept creation.
  • Build 3D CAD models and refine designs through multiple iterations.
  • Prepare sketches, visual renders, and presentation-ready material.
  • Assist with prototyping, testing, and evaluating product performance.
  • Carry out research related to design, users, and market needs.
  • Help prepare concepts and files for manufacturing.
  • Keep project records updated and maintain organized design documentation.
  • Work closely with the team and contribute to timely project delivery.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing, or recently finished, a degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a similar discipline.
  • Solid understanding of product design fundamentals and design-thinking approaches.
  • Basic familiarity with any 3D CAD tool such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino, Blender, or comparable software.
  • Comfortable communicating and working with others in a collaborative environment.
  • Organized, attentive to detail, proactive, and willing to learn.
  • Genuine interest in design, hands-on making, and problem-solving.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to 3D printing and rapid prototyping methods.
  • Working knowledge of Blender and Fusion 360.
  • Basic graphic design ability using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or similar software.
  • Experience with rendering or visualization applications.
  • A portfolio, personal projects, or prototype work is an added advantage.

What We Look For

The ideal candidate is curious, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. If you enjoy experimenting, building prototypes, exploring emerging technologies, and working across multiple design areas, this role could be a strong fit.

Application Instructions

Applicants should share a resume along with a portfolio that highlights their strongest design work and projects.
