Job description
About the Role and Company
One Eighty Collective seeks a pioneering Product Designer to join a well-established PE-backed vertical SaaS company known for serving independent specialty retailers for nearly 30 years. This company is currently undergoing a major platform modernization, transitioning from legacy desktop software to cloud-based SaaS with upcoming mobile and integrated payment features. As the very first Product Designer hire, you will have the unique opportunity to fully own the design process from start to finish, collaborating closely with the Head of Product and front-end engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Create the foundational component library and style guide, establishing the design system for all future products.
- Lead user experience design for the mobile app and the new integrated payments feature.
- Translate complex business data into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces aimed at non-technical SMB customers.
- Work hand-in-hand with front-end developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementations and detailed design documentation.
- Collaborate internally on the company rebrand alongside marketing teams and external agencies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A portfolio demonstrating your complete design process from discovery through delivery, emphasizing problem-solving over just visuals.
- Experience crafting designs for non-technical users, prioritizing usability and clarity above all.
- Proficiency in information architecture to organize intricate data into streamlined, navigable interfaces.
- Expertise in designing mobile and responsive web applications within SaaS environments.
- Experience with AI-enhanced design workflows.
- Availability to work in the East Coast time zone (preferably ET, CT acceptable).
Additional Preferred Experience
- Experience leading 0-to-1 product design initiatives or significant platform overhauls.
- Background in point-of-sale, retail technology, or system-of-record products.
- Involvement in brand identity development or rebranding projects.
Benefits and Compensation
- Competitive compensation package including base salary and performance-based variable pay.
- Comprehensive benefits and a close-knit team environment fostering a genuine culture.
- Opportunity for meaningful ownership of product design and significant influence on the company’s rebranding efforts.
