About the Role
Join an ambitious, results-driven team within Scotiabank's Global Wealth Management (GWM) Digital Experience Design group, operating in a culture that values inclusivity and high performance. As a Product Designer, you will play a key role in achieving the team's strategic objectives by executing individual goals and initiatives. Compliance with relevant regulations, internal guidelines, and procedures is a critical responsibility in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop user-friendly digital experiences by contributing to client-focused user journeys, interaction frameworks, and visual design for wealth management tools.
- Utilize customer insights, usability principles, and design best practices, informed by research, to create effective solutions and enhance user outcomes.
- Improve user experience quality by pinpointing ways to simplify processes and boost usability, collaborating with team members during design reviews.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and research teams to deliver feature improvements grounded in user-centered design.
- Implement and contribute to the design system, using established UI components and scalable patterns across platforms.
- Produce high-quality design deliverables throughout the product lifecycle and refine solutions based on received feedback.
- Engage in collaborative creative sessions such as workshops and design jams to advance concepts and team alignment.
- Effectively communicate design concepts using visuals, prototypes, and detailed specifications to support engineering implementation.
- Adapt efficiently within an agile environment, managing multiple priorities, integrating feedback, and meeting deadlines.
- Commit to ongoing improvement by analyzing testing results, team suggestions, and product metrics to evolve designs.
- Apply accessibility and inclusive design standards to ensure equitable and user-friendly experiences for all clients.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- 3 to 5 years of experience designing for responsive web and/or native mobile apps, focusing on usability and quality.
- A compelling portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design projects, highlighting your role and problem-solving approach.
- Post-secondary qualification in interaction design, UX design, or a related area, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in Figma for creating clear design and prototype assets that facilitate collaboration and development.
- Familiarity with design systems, including application of components and patterns and contributing to their enhancement.
- Strong visual and verbal communication capabilities, using sketches, flows, and prototypes to align with stakeholders.
- Collaborative attitude and effective communication skills to work with diverse teams including designers, product managers, and engineers.
- Ability to work semi-independently, owning assigned tasks and incorporating feedback to improve outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
- Growth mindset with openness to feedback, iterative design, and continuous personal and professional improvement.
- Fundamental understanding of human-centered design methods including design thinking, usability concepts, and basic research/testing techniques.
- Basic knowledge of front-end development technologies such as HTML/CSS and responsive design to make practical design choices.
