Role Summary
The Product Assurance Engineer will provide specialized product assurance support primarily within space-related programs and projects. This role involves overseeing system, sub-system, and supply-chain assurance activities throughout project phases, from initiation through to launch and post-delivery support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver product assurance expertise across space projects at various stages, including system and supply chain levels.
- Support project execution from delivery start to milestone completion and beyond, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Embed reliability, safety, and compliance requirements into project workflows and supplier engagements.
- Collaborate within the Space Business Unit, often managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Liaise closely with engineering, supply chain, project managers, and customers to ensure proportionate and effective assurance.
- Oversee assurance for design, manufacturing, testing, and verification during the project lifecycle.
- Provide comprehensive visibility on assurance status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and business units.
- Contribute to governance by supporting project reviews, audits, and safety-critical readiness milestones.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Experience handling non-conformances, deviations, and waivers within complex systems; space industry experience is advantageous.
- Deep understanding of lifecycle assurance principles for intricate systems and equipment.
- Strong communication skills for effective engagement with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Eligibility for unrestricted UK Security Clearance.
Desirable Attributes
- Knowledge of Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT), verification, and flight readiness processes.
- Basic familiarity with Quality Engineering domains including Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS), Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical components (EEE/M&PE), and Radiation effects.
- Prior experience in Product Assurance, Quality, or Reliability Engineering within aerospace, defence, space, or regulated engineering contexts.
- Competence in managing assurance across systems, sub-systems, and supplier interfaces.
- Experience with space missions and safety-critical systems.
- Participation in supplier audits and onsite assurance activities.
