Job description
About Agave
Agave is building a modern financial operations platform tailored for the construction industry, a $12 trillion market dominated by outdated software lacking APIs and documentation. With over 550 customers, Agave has developed proprietary technology that integrates seamlessly with legacy systems to enable AI-driven invoicing, expenses, compliance, and billing functionalities. The company is profitable, cash flow positive, and backed by leading investors including Accel and Y Combinator.
Role Overview
We are seeking a sharp, semi-technical Product Analyst to join our remote team. This role centers on hands-on execution rather than strategy, working closely with engineers to specify, test, and launch product enhancements. The ideal candidate will develop deep expertise in the integrated systems and take ownership of the feature lifecycle, from discovery through rollout.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of integrated systems such as ERPs, field tools, and accounting platforms.
- Conduct structured investigations of edge cases and unexpected integration behaviors.
- Draft clear, detailed specifications for features, improvements, and fixes.
- Oversee full feature cycles including quality assurance and post-launch monitoring.
- Create and execute thorough test plans to catch potential issues missed by engineers or customers.
- Gather and synthesize feedback from customer interactions and internal teams to translate pain points into actionable product specifications.
- Collaborate with Account Management and onboarding teams to identify and prioritize friction points.
- Develop and maintain internal documentation and scalable testing frameworks.
- Continuously improve product development processes.
Requirements
- Proven hands-on approach with a passion for tackling complex, nuanced systems and simplifying them for users.
- Semi-technical background with internship or related experience interacting with APIs, databases, SQL, Postman, or eagerness to learn these tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and structured analytical thinking, especially about edge cases.
- Willingness to work in-person full-time in San Francisco (5 days per week).
- Ability to rapidly produce engineering-ready research documentation within the first week.
- Preferred: Experience collaborating closely with software engineers and releasing products under tight deadlines.
- Ideal traits include enjoying puzzle solving, tinkering with challenging legacy systems, and managing complex dependencies.
- Not suitable for those seeking strategic, roadmap-owner roles, remote work, or purely customer-facing positions.
Benefits
- Healthcare coverage paying 90% of costs with multiple plan options.
- 401(k) plan with 100% matching up to 4% of annual salary.
- Annual performance bonuses linked to company growth.
- Sizable relocation bonuses for candidates moving to the Bay Area, including local moving bonuses.
- Meal stipends for breakfast and dinner, plus well-stocked office kitchen.
- On-site gym facilities including Peloton, squat rack, and yoga setup.
- Visa sponsorship available (H1B, TN, etc.) for qualified candidates.
- Commuter benefits including pre-tax transit contributions and full Muni pass coverage.
Work Environment
Agave maintains an in-person culture at our San Francisco office located near Salesforce Park. Working together on site fosters stronger culture and speed in building products.
Interview Process
- Initial informal 15-minute chat to discuss your background and fit.
- 45-minute writing exercise with prompts to assess clear communication and business understanding.
- 30-minute experience discussion focusing on project complexity and relevant skills.
- A detailed written case study to evaluate role-specific abilities.
- On-site interviews (five one-hour sessions) with the co-founders and team members. Travel costs are covered.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000 per year.
