About the Role

The Atlantic is looking for a Video Podcast Producer to join their expanding Podcasts team and manage various video podcast projects. The ideal candidate should have a diverse curiosity and be knowledgeable about humanities, history, intellectual life, and general news. This role involves editing video podcast episodes under tight deadlines using Adobe Premiere, assisting with research, booking guests, show preparations, and managing recording logistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit video podcast episodes using Adobe Premiere.
  • Collaborate closely with show hosts and editors to maintain high editorial quality.
  • Assist senior producers with comprehensive production tasks from pre-production through post-production.
  • Book guests and conduct research on both guests and topics.
  • Edit and publish episodes.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams across The Atlantic, including legal, art, audience, copy desk, story editors, and fact-checkers to ensure top production standards.
  • Support in booking and managing recording sessions, ensuring proper lighting, audio, and camera setup for smooth recordings.
  • Enhance video content by including graphics, transitions, and other elements to produce polished final videos.
  • Maintain consistent visual and audio quality across all episodes.
  • Work with the audience team to generate promotional clips for social media platforms.
  • Manage all uploads to video and audio distribution platforms.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in video production and editing, preferably in video series, podcasts, or journalism.
  • Skilled in video taping and editing software such as Riverside, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro.
  • Basic knowledge of lighting, audio, and camera operation to ensure high-quality production.
  • Experience handling remote recording workflows.
  • Excellent editorial judgment with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines and creatively solve editorial challenges.
  • Familiarity with YouTube and other podcast distribution platforms.
  • Experience or skills in motion graphics and animation are preferred.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C., and requires occasional night, early morning, and weekend work.
