Job Overview
Our client seeks a Procurement Specialist for a 12-month contract based onsite in the Brampton/Mississauga area of Greater Toronto. The role involves managing procurement projects end-to-end, from defining requirements and sourcing strategies to awarding contracts and administering ongoing agreements within the public procurement framework, specifically focusing on construction-related categories.
Key Duties
- Collaborate with internal departments to provide expert advice on procurement strategies, technical specifications, risk management, and scheduling.
- Create comprehensive procurement documents such as Request for Proposals (RFPs), tender and bid packages, evaluation metrics, and contract agreements.
- Manage the full bidding process including solicitation postings, responding to vendor queries, organizing site visits, and leading evaluation meetings.
- Conduct commercial negotiations with vendors, oversee contract amendments through the contract lifecycle, and deliver vendor debriefings.
- Prepare formal purchase approval documentation and ensure compliance with procurement governance standards.
- Supervise and coach junior purchasing support personnel in day-to-day activities and tasks.
Candidate Profile
- At least four years’ experience in procurement within Ontario or a comparable public sector environment.
- Proven expertise in managing construction-related procurement, including capital projects, facility maintenance, and trade contracts.
- Strong familiarity with Canadian public procurement legislation and competitive bidding procedures.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with legal teams, risk management, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
Additional Information
This position requires five working days per week onsite at the client’s location in the Greater Toronto Area. The contract duration is twelve months with compensation up to $47 per hour.
