Role Summary

The Procurement Manager will oversee sourcing and supplier management for raw materials, ingredients, packaging items, and indirect spend. The position works closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Planning, Product Development, Quality, and Finance to keep materials flowing, maintain competitive pricing, and ensure strong supplier performance.

The preferred background is procurement or sourcing experience in personal care, cosmetics, beauty, OTC, consumer packaged goods, specialty chemicals, or similar manufacturing settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle procurement across raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, components, and indirect spend areas.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier partnerships with attention to quality, service, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts, lead times, and supply agreements.
  • Find, assess, and onboard backup suppliers to reduce supply chain exposure.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Operations, Planning, R&D, and Product Development to support production and new product introductions.
  • Track supplier performance and drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Deliver cost reduction, cost avoidance, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Support inventory planning and supply continuity efforts.
  • Review market conditions, supplier strengths, and commodity trends to uncover sourcing opportunities.
  • Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Create reporting and metrics for procurement performance, supplier management, and inventory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Materials Management, Operations, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting personal care, beauty, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, fragrance, OTC, specialty chemical, or consumer packaged goods businesses.
  • Strong background in supplier negotiation and contract management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and internal partners.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, growth-oriented manufacturing setting.

Preferred Category Experience

Ingredients and Raw Materials: cosmetic actives, specialty chemicals, surfactants, emollients, preservatives, fragrances, essential oils, OTC active ingredients, and botanical extracts.

Packaging Components: bottles, tubes, jars, pumps, closures, labels, corrugated packaging, folding cartons, and flexible packaging.

Ideal Industry Background

Candidates with experience in personal care manufacturing, cosmetics, beauty and skincare, hair care, OTC products, fragrance, contract manufacturing (CMO/CDMO), consumer packaged goods (CPG), specialty chemicals, or household products are especially encouraged.
