Role overview
The Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for shaping and executing sourcing approaches that strengthen supplier partnerships while improving cost, quality, service, and innovation outcomes. This role focuses on supplier choice, contract and pricing negotiations, supplier performance oversight, and resolving issues that may affect delivery or business continuity.
Key responsibilities
- Own procurement work for the designated categories.
- Create and negotiate strategic contracts and pricing arrangements for the relevant products and services in the portfolio.
- Use effective negotiation methods to secure the best possible commercial terms.
- Work toward the lowest sustainable cost while protecting supply continuity for items that meet required specifications.
- Partner with suppliers and internal operations teams to uncover savings that can be implemented and tracked through to realization.
- Evaluate opportunities to combine spend and improve buying leverage across the assigned category.
- Support the supplier selection process in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to recommendations around future positions and hedging approaches where needed.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- A degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
- Proven strength in contract management and contract redlining.
- Experience handling supplier negotiations and category-based procurement activities.
