Processing Officer - with Forklift

About the role

Join NZ Post in Christchurch as a Processing Officer working at the Syd Bradley Road branch. In this role, you’ll help sort, consolidate, and send parcels and freight onward so couriers can complete deliveries across New Zealand. This shift also includes forklift operation, so prior forklift experience and safe working habits are required.

The role is part of a busy, team-focused operation where accuracy, safety, and physical capability are important. The work supports parcel movement using teamwork, technology, and a strong commitment to service.

Shift details and pay

• Work days: Sunday and Friday only.
• Sunday shift: 2:30pm to 11:00pm.
• Friday shift: 4:00pm to 12:30am.
• Base pay: $26.75 per hour from July 1.
• Additional pay: $3.29 night rate allowance, plus a forklift allowance paid fortnightly.

What you'll do

You will be responsible for moving freight through the processing workflow efficiently and safely, helping prepare items for courier dispatch. Forklift use is part of the job, alongside general processing tasks in a high-volume environment.

What you'll need

• Forklift experience is essential.
• A forklift certificate or F endorsement.
• At least a restricted New Zealand driver licence.
• Availability to work the specified Sunday and Friday shifts.
• The ability to stay alert, work well with others, and help maintain a safe site.
• Capacity for physically demanding work, including lifting up to 25 kg.
• Good attention to detail and solid geographical knowledge.
