Job description

Role overview

This position sits within the Private Equity Investments group and supports the full lifecycle of private equity investing. The analyst will contribute to deal review, due diligence, transaction execution, and ongoing portfolio oversight.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the wider team on transactions from initial screening through closing, including evaluating opportunities, carrying out due diligence, drafting investment recommendations, and tracking investments after completion.
  • During diligence, examine how businesses make money, research the industry and competition, assess sponsor alignment, review valuation assumptions, and study third-party diligence materials.
  • Develop and update financial models for program cash flow projections, fund-level cash flow and return analysis, and co-investment return and sensitivity scenarios.
  • Prepare investment memos and diligence summaries, and present findings to internal committees and clients when required.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel to review transaction terms, negotiate documentation, and help complete investment execution.
  • Support internal allocation decisions and the closing workflow for deals.
  • Track portfolio and company performance, draft investor updates, and help facilitate follow-up discussions around performance.
  • Assist with fundraising activities tied to private equity separate account mandates and commingled funds.
  • Contribute to special assignments such as business development and investor relations when needed.

Education and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics is required, along with strong academic performance.
  • About 1 to 2 years of professional experience in private equity, investment banking, or consulting/advisory is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are expected.
  • Strong financial modeling capability, including familiarity with leveraged buyouts and private equity transactions, is important.
  • The role calls for strong quantitative analysis, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good organization and project management skills are needed to handle multiple live transactions and tight timelines.
  • The candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative deal team.
  • A high level of integrity, discretion, judgment, and a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset is valued.
  • The successful candidate should enjoy working in a performance-focused, collaborative environment and interacting with colleagues at all levels.

Compensation and benefits

The New York annual pay range for this role is USD 105,000 to 130,000. Actual base pay may differ depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Employees may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual, team, and company performance.
