Job description
Role overview
This opening is shared on behalf of a partner organization that handles its own application review and next steps. The partner is seeking a Privacy Compliance Analyst I in the United States.
This is a healthcare privacy and regulatory compliance role focused on managing sensitive information requests, supporting HIPAA-related processes, and helping the organization stay aligned with state and federal privacy requirements. Working remotely, you will collaborate with internal teams, document privacy activities, and assist with investigations, reporting, and related compliance work under supervision.
Key accountabilities
- Handle privacy requests such as HIPAA authorizations, accounting of disclosures, amendments, and restriction requests, making sure each one is completed accurately and on time with oversight.
- Track and answer messages received through the HIPAA inbox and Privacy Hotline, recording every interaction and routing unusual matters to the right team.
- Work with internal departments to confirm request details and ensure protected health information is managed in line with privacy rules.
- Help investigate possible unauthorized disclosures of PHI and escalate concerns to management when needed.
- Support subpoena coordination and related legal or privacy workflows in partnership with Legal and compliance functions.
- Keep logs, records, and supporting documentation current for privacy office operations, with attention to retention and audit expectations.
- Assist with communications to regulators and other external or internal stakeholders under guidance, making sure actions align with privacy laws.
- Join meetings, capture notes, and contribute to privacy program work such as data mapping, document retention, and compliance reviews.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in English, Political Science, History, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may also be accepted. If using experience instead of a degree, a high school diploma is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in regulatory compliance in a healthcare setting, with exposure to privacy laws and regulatory research.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, along with familiarity with state and federal privacy frameworks such as GLBA, GINA, and managed care rules preferred.
- Experience with structured documentation, compliance procedures, or legal/regulatory workflows is strongly valued.
- Solid research, analysis, and writing ability, including the skill to interpret regulations and apply them in day-to-day operations.
- Comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and standard computer systems.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and calmly under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams while keeping information confidential.
- Experience with healthcare systems, health insurance operations, or paralegal/legal training would be an added advantage.
Benefits and additional information
- Annual compensation of $48,000 to $65,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Fully remote position with company-provided equipment and a structured onboarding process.
- Exposure to healthcare compliance work involving HIPAA and privacy law frameworks.
- Training and professional development opportunities, including education in regulatory and compliance topics.
- Cross-functional collaboration with legal, operational, and regulatory teams.
- Work that directly supports the protection of sensitive health information.
- Equal-opportunity work environment with a commitment to inclusion and compliance standards.
Application and hiring process
The matching and review process for this opportunity is supported by AI tools to help identify candidates whose profiles align with the role’s core requirements. Applications are then shared with the hiring company, which manages interviews, assessments, final decisions, and all next steps internally.
By submitting an application, candidates acknowledge that personal data may be processed to evaluate candidacy and share relevant information with the employer, based on legitimate interest and pre-contractual measures where applicable. Data rights such as access, correction, deletion, and objection may be exercised at any time.
AI tools may also be used to assist parts of the recruitment workflow, such as application review, resume analysis, response assessment, and basic consistency checks. These tools support the recruiting team but do not replace human judgment, and final hiring decisions are made by people.
