Role overview
HMP Bullingdon is seeking an Operational Support Grade to help keep the prison running safely and efficiently. This is a varied, hands-on position within a supportive team, combining security checks, visitor management, delivery handling, monitoring duties, and other essential day-to-day support work.
What the role involves
- Carry out security checks and searches at the gate.
- Receive and manage deliveries.
- Supervise visitors when required.
- Monitor phone calls and CCTV feeds.
- Perform a mix of desk-based duties and active tasks, including lifting, carrying, and walking to escort vehicles around the prison site.

Working pattern and travel
The job includes a range of shifts, covering weekends and nights. Shift start and finish times are fixed, so reliable punctuality is essential. The establishment is in a rural location with limited public transport, so having a driving licence and access to your own vehicle is helpful, though not mandatory unless specifically required. Applicants must hold a full, valid UK driving licence with D1 entitlement, allowing the driving of vehicles with up to 16 passenger seats, a maximum length of 8 metres, and a trailer of up to 750kg.

Pay and benefits

Additional terms and conditions
- Annual leave starts at 25 days on appointment and rises to 30 days after 10 years of service, calculated pro rata.
