Job description

Operational Support Grade

HMP Guys Marsh is seeking an Operational Support Grade to join their team. This is a full-time, onsite position based in East Stour, England. As an Operational Support Grade, you will be integral to the daily operations of a busy prison, contributing to security, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring communications and CCTV. The role is dynamic, involving both desk-based tasks and physical activities like lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within the prison grounds. This position offers a unique career path with opportunities for progression, including a potential conversion to a Prison Officer role. You will receive comprehensive training and development, with access to a Level 2 customer service apprenticeship.

About the Role

This is an extraordinary job where you will support the smooth and safe running of HMP Guys Marsh. While your direct contact with prisoners will be limited, you will play a crucial role in maintaining security and order. The role requires good judgment, common sense, and strong teamwork. You will work varied shifts, including weekends and nights.

Additional Information

The starting salary is £29,432 per annum. Annual leave starts at 25 days, increasing to 30 days after 10 years of service, calculated on a pro-rata basis. In addition to base pay, employees receive 9 days for bank, public, and privilege holidays.
