Principal Solutions Director

Role Overview

This senior leadership position is focused on steering the delivery of several high-value AI engagements at the same time. The emphasis is not only on keeping projects moving, but on making sure the work translates into meaningful business impact for clients.

You will operate remotely, with client visits arranged when necessary, and will act as the key connection between technical teams and executive-level stakeholders. A major part of the job is ensuring that clients can clearly see progress, while internal delivery teams remain aligned, supported, and productive.

As a visible leader, you will be expected to take ownership of statements of work, guide important workshops, handle friction when it arises, and help shape solutions that are genuinely useful to clients.

Delivery Oversight Across Multiple Projects

• Take responsibility for 3 to 4 active client programmes running at the same time, each at different stages and levels of complexity.
• Serve as the primary delivery lead for team members working across several accounts.
• Prepare and own statements of work so they reflect client needs as well as the company’s strategic direction.
• Monitor team performance, spot issues early, and reallocate support or resources to keep delivery on track.

Client Impact and Value Creation

• Ensure clients experience visible, practical progress rather than isolated technical activity.
• Turn engineering outputs into clear business stories that reinforce strategic value.
• Work with client-side stakeholders so that outcomes remain aligned with wider transformation objectives.
• Assist account leaders in finding ways to deepen client relationships and expand engagement.

Business and Technical Communication

• Act as the main translator between AI, data, and DevOps teams and non-technical decision-makers.
• Explain technical progress, constraints, and risks in language that is easy for business audiences to understand.
• Support technical leads by surfacing delivery risks and testing feasibility without taking over solution design.
• Contribute thoughtful challenge when assumptions need to be questioned, both internally and with clients.

Product and Delivery Leadership

• Take on product ownership responsibilities for important client deliverables, setting priorities and managing scope.
• Coordinate across engineering, design, and operations so that delivery is cohesive and consistent.
• Make sure outputs support client strategy while still preserving technical quality.
• Look for recurring patterns, reusable assets, and success examples that can strengthen future delivery work.

What You Bring

You should have a strong technical grounding, including hands-on coding experience, so you can engage credibly with engineers and architects while also making complexity understandable for senior business leaders. Familiarity with agile delivery, modern software development life cycle practices, and product-led development is important.

You will also need a solid history of leading several enterprise-scale technology projects at once, especially in environments where priorities compete and pressure is high. Success in delivering work on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard is essential.

Strong communication and influence skills are central to this role. You should be comfortable presenting, running meetings, and explaining progress in a way that resonates with both technical and executive audiences.

Experience working in large matrixed organisations is important, along with the ability to facilitate workshops that drive decisions. You should know when to build consensus and when to push firmly for delivery priorities.

Preferred Experience

Experience in regulated sectors such as pharma, finance, healthcare, or insurance would be an advantage. Familiarity with compliance, audit expectations, documentation standards, and strong governance or quality control processes will be valuable.

Role Details

Location: Remote, with client visits where required.

Salary range: £130,000 to €170,000.

Technology environment includes Python, JavaScript, Azure, AWS, and AI.

Industry focus: AI consultancy.
