Job description

Role overview

This position is responsible for leading information management, document control, data management, engineering systems administration, and the digital systems used throughout project execution. The role also provides strategic direction for digitalization across the lifecycle of business delivery.

The successful candidate will shape modern information management practices, promote effective use of technology, and help align these functions with broader business goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Set the direction for information management and document control strategy, standards, and procedures, and ensure compliance with them.
  • Oversee capability standards and monitor competence across information management, document control, data management, and record management teams.
  • Define functional needs for information management systems and tools, and work with IT teams and software providers to deliver them.
  • Coordinate with project delivery teams to make sure information management and document management processes support execution plans.
  • Lead the rollout of information management and document management systems and tools.
  • Develop and implement workshare approaches within information management and document management.
  • Advise on technical direction, working methods, and enabling technologies that support delivery of IM, DM, and digital services.
  • Partner with project management to handle day-to-day operational decisions and ensure outcomes meet customer expectations.
  • Identify major execution risks in information management, document management, and digital systems, and ensure they are tracked and controlled.
  • Support digital transition in a way that reflects strong ethical standards and social responsibility.

Market focus

This role is intended for professionals with experience in both brownfield and greenfield environments, particularly in the following sectors:

  • Onshore oil and gas
  • Offshore oil and gas

Qualifications and experience

A degree qualification, or an equivalent background, is required.

The role calls for substantial senior management experience in operationally focused roles within a complex international organisation. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the relevant markets and the ability to lead multinational teams while coordinating closely across multiple disciplines.

Experience should include building effective relationships with leadership, customers, employees, and other stakeholders, as well as a proven track record in establishing safety culture and integrating multiple management areas.

Knowledge and technical background

  • Up-to-date awareness of modern information and document management practices, including emerging digital transformation trends.
  • Familiarity with current and developing technologies in the IM, DM, and digital space.
  • Working knowledge of related industry initiatives and standards such as CFIHOS and BIM ISO19650.
  • Understanding of commercial strategy, business models, governance, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Ability to manage relationships across cultures and respond effectively to changing regulatory and economic conditions.
