About the Company
Providence is a long-established healthcare network focused on delivering compassionate, high-quality care to communities across the United States. The organization serves patients through a large footprint of hospitals, clinics, and health and social service programs across multiple states. Its guiding purpose is to make care more personal and supportive, while building an environment where people feel respected, included, and able to contribute meaningfully. Employees also benefit from strong development support and a culture centered on service and impact.
About the Role
Providence is looking for a senior-level Principal Data Analyst with deep revenue cycle expertise to work remotely. This role is centered on building and leading advanced analytical work that improves revenue cycle performance and supports financial goals across the organization. The position is fully remote, but candidates must live within 65 miles of Anchorage, Renton, Portland, Irvine, Lubbock, or Hobbs.
The analyst will handle large, complex datasets from multiple internal and external systems, develop advanced SQL-based analyses, build data models, and create dashboards that help leaders understand revenue cycle trends. The work spans areas such as patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denials, and accounts receivable. The role also requires turning technical findings into clear recommendations for executive leaders, partnering closely with finance and operations, and helping strengthen data governance and analytical standards. In addition, this person will mentor junior analysts and act as a trusted subject matter expert on revenue cycle data.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex analytics initiatives that support revenue cycle improvement and broader financial objectives.
- Collect, combine, and verify large datasets from various sources so they are accurate and analysis-ready.
- Write advanced SQL queries, build analytical models, and develop methods to uncover trends, inefficiencies, and financial opportunities.
- Design dashboards and reporting outputs in Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to increase visibility into performance metrics.
- Analyze key revenue cycle areas such as patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denials, and accounts receivable.
- Convert detailed analytical results into practical recommendations and leadership-ready presentations.
- Manage multiple priorities at once while delivering work on schedule and at a high standard.
- Work with finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, payer analysis, and rate-setting support.
- Partner with operational stakeholders to identify causes of performance issues and recommend data-driven fixes.
- Create standardized reports and frameworks that improve consistency and transparency in metrics.
- Serve as a go-to expert on revenue cycle definitions, data, and performance indicators across teams.
- Advise internal teams and external vendors on data needs and analytical approaches.
- Maintain compliance with governance requirements, privacy rules, and internal policies in all data work.
- Support and coach junior analysts through knowledge sharing, documentation, and best-practice development.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics involving large, complex datasets.
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on SQL experience, including advanced querying, data modeling, and performance tuning in relational databases.
- At least 5 years of strong MS Office experience, especially with Excel.
- At least 2 years of experience using Epic systems, including Epic Clarity, for extracting and analyzing revenue cycle data.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Retirement savings support with employer matching.
- Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and parental leave.
- Disability and life insurance options.
- Wellness resources and employee assistance programs.
- Opportunities to grow professionally within a supportive organization.
