About the Company

Providence is a long-established healthcare system serving communities across the United States. It is focused on delivering compassionate, high-quality care and operates a large network of hospitals and clinics. The organization is guided by values such as compassion, integrity, and excellence, and it emphasizes whole-person care, innovation, community involvement, and a respectful, inclusive culture.

About the Role

The Principal Data Analyst - Revenue Cycle is a senior remote position centered on improving revenue cycle performance and supporting stronger financial decision-making. In this role, you will lead sophisticated analytics efforts, work with large datasets, build models and dashboards, and turn findings into practical recommendations for leadership. The position covers key areas such as patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denials, and accounts receivable, and requires close partnership with finance, operations, vendors, and consultants.

You will also help ensure data quality, consistency, and governance, while contributing to budgeting, forecasting, payer performance review, and ongoing process improvement. This is a strategic role for someone who can manage competing priorities, communicate clearly with executive stakeholders, and support the organization’s mission while protecting financial sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and deliver complex analytics initiatives that improve revenue cycle results and financial performance.
  • Collect, combine, clean, and verify data from multiple internal and external sources so it is accurate and ready for analysis.
  • Build advanced SQL queries, data models, and analytical workflows to uncover trends, inefficiencies, and financial opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards, visual reports, and presentations using tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Analyze revenue cycle functions including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denials, and accounts receivable.
  • Summarize technical findings into clear business insights and present recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Manage several stakeholder requests at once while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Work with finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, payer performance analysis, and rate-setting support.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to identify root causes and propose data-backed improvements.
  • Create standardized reporting and analytics frameworks that improve consistency and transparency.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for revenue cycle data, definitions, and performance measures.
  • Advise internal and external partners on data needs, analytical methods, and interpretation of results.
  • Follow data governance, privacy, and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Support and mentor junior analysts while helping strengthen analytics best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles involving large and complex datasets.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on SQL experience, including advanced query development, data modeling, and performance tuning in large relational databases.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, with at least 5 years of experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with Epic systems, including Epic Clarity, to extract, interpret, and analyze revenue cycle data.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings plan with employer matching.
  • Paid leave, including vacation, holidays, and parental leave.
  • Disability and life insurance coverage.
  • Well-being support and employee assistance resources.
  • Opportunities for professional learning and career advancement.
  • Flexible remote work arrangement within designated geographic regions.
