Position Overview
The City of Boroondara is actively seeking a Principal Affordable Housing Officer to lead significant strategic initiatives focused on affordable housing, fostering inclusive and sustainable communities. This fixed-term full-time appointment spans two years, offering a salary of $148,688 annually plus superannuation and accrued days off (RDO).
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Council’s affordable housing program from initial policy formulation to project initiation.
- Provide expert advice to council executives and councillors and enhance organisational knowledge and capacity regarding housing affordability.
- Foster collaborative partnerships across Council departments, government bodies, community housing organisations, developers, and other stakeholders to devise innovative evidence-based solutions addressing housing affordability challenges.
Candidate Profile
- Bring substantial experience and expertise in affordable housing, urban planning, strategic policy development, or community development.
- Exhibit advanced communication skills combined with strong policy analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrate passion for fostering equitable, sustainable communities and motivation to positively impact housing affordability issues.
Employment Conditions
- This is a two-year fixed full-time position.
- Salary offered is $148,688 per annum plus superannuation, along with rostered days off.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in social policy, planning, architecture, property development, or related disciplines are highly regarded.
- Extensive practical experience in affordable housing policy, research, and project management.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Legal right to work within Australia is mandatory.
- Successful candidates will be subject to a National Police Record Check.
