Job Overview
Middleton International School is seeking a Primary Class Teacher for a one-year contract from January to December 2027 at the Tampines campus. This role reports directly to the Principal and involves fostering an inclusive, respectful environment while delivering the UK National Curriculum for English and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).
Responsibilities
- Honor and appreciate each child’s diverse social, cultural, and religious background by modeling respect and tolerance.
- Participate in managing the pastoral care, wellbeing, and behavior of all pupils, especially those in your class.
- Deliver classroom instruction aligned with the school’s policies and educational standards.
- Apply various teaching methodologies, including differentiated instruction, to ensure rigorous and high-quality learning experiences.
- Collaborate effectively with grade-level colleagues to deliver inquiry-based learning units under the IPC framework.
- Submit detailed planning documents outlining learning goals, differentiated tasks, special needs considerations, extensions, and assessments to the Principal or Senior Leadership Team.
- Maintain professional communication with colleagues regarding students and school matters, upholding confidentiality.
- Guarantee equal educational opportunities for every student.
- Facilitate teaching, assessment, and progress evaluation for pupils following the UK National Curriculum standards for English.
- Encourage students to take pride in their environment and foster respect and care within the school community.
- Manage classroom operations, including care and organization of equipment and maintaining a tidy, resourceful space.
- Create an engaging and stimulating classroom atmosphere that promotes independent learning.
- Work with the Principal and staff to develop assessment procedures and moderation portfolios; keep accurate records of student achievement and prepare reports as needed.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents of students.
Qualifications & Eligibility
- Exemplify qualities valued by the school: collaboration, lifelong learning, open-mindedness, respectfulness, and passion for education.
- Hold a Postgraduate Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited institution with a minimum of three years full-time study.
- Possess teaching certification, diploma, or equivalent accreditation if the degree earned is not specifically in Education.
- Have between 2 to 5 years of relevant teaching experience in a primary school setting; familiarity with the International Primary Curriculum is advantageous.
- Demonstrate knowledge of or willingness to learn inquiry-based teaching approaches.
- International teaching experience, particularly within Asia, is highly desirable.
- Candidates with prior experience in MOE schools are encouraged to apply.
