Job purpose
The Pricing Officer for Freight Management will be responsible for identifying and managing transport partners, securing competitive freight pricing, and supporting day-to-day operational needs. This position helps ensure trucks are available on time for local movements as well as GCC cross-border operations, while maintaining close coordination with Operations, Commercial, Finance, and external transport vendors to support uninterrupted business flow and high customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Find, assess, and onboard transport vendors for local and cross-border shipments.
- Collect competitive pricing for dry, reefer, automotive, bonded, and other specialized cargo movements.
- Manage daily RFQs and provide prompt, accurate pricing support to Commercial and Operations teams.
- Negotiate freight rates and commercial terms with service providers to improve cost efficiency.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with transport vendors while monitoring their service quality.
- Confirm that vendor documents, permits, licenses, insurance, and compliance records stay current and valid.
- Keep transport databases, vendor files, and rate comparison reports organized and updated.
- Coordinate with carriers to secure truck availability and ensure timely dispatch.
- Support local and GCC cross-border transportation activities.
- Track market movements, transport capacity, truck shortages, and freight rate changes.
- Partner with Operations to handle urgent deployment needs and resolve customer escalations.
- Assist Finance with invoice checks, detention tracking, and transport cost monitoring.
- Maintain dashboards, KPI reports, and operational performance records.
- Ensure transport-related documentation and reporting are completed accurately.
Qualifications and experience
The role calls for a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should bring 2 to 5 years of experience in transportation procurement, freight management, or logistics operations. Experience in the 3PL or broader logistics sector is preferred, and prior exposure to GCC cross-border transport operations will be an advantage. Experience handling reefer, dry, automotive, or bonded freight operations is also preferred.
Skills and competencies
- Solid knowledge of local and GCC transport operations.
- Understanding of trucking processes, transport documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage vendors and negotiate freight rates effectively.
- Familiarity with POD handling, KPI tracking, and performance reporting.
- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems and transport dashboards.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
- Clear communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-moving logistics environment.
