Press Shop In-Charge (Tool and Die Maker)

About the Role

Ayush Industries seeks a skilled and experienced Press Shop In-Charge responsible for managing and optimizing press shop activities related to tool and die operations. The role emphasizes leadership in production, quality control, and team management within a sheet metal press shop environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Independently supervise daily press shop functions.
• Set up, align, and trial various dies including blanking, piercing, bending, compound, and progressive types.
• Operate mechanical and hand power presses while overseeing other operators.
• Interpret engineering drawings and plan manufacturing sequences for efficient production.
• Schedule production to meet customer deadlines and ensure first-piece approval prior to full runs.
• Monitor product quality rigorously, aiming to minimize rejects and rework.
• Collaborate with external tool rooms for developing and modifying dies.
• Provide training to operators and helpers on machine operation, die setups, quality standards, and safety practices.
• Maintain machine and tooling upkeep including lubrication and routine maintenance.
• Document production data, tooling histories, and maintenance logs accurately.
• Enforce and promote safety protocols within the press shop.

Technical Requirements and Qualifications

• 10 to 15 years of practical experience in sheet metal press shop operations.
• Proficiency in operating mechanical power presses.
• In-depth understanding of metal forming processes including blanking, piercing, bending, embossing, forming, and deep drawing.
• Expertise in die setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting production issues.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools.
• Familiarity with processing metals such as CRCA, GI, stainless steel, brass, and aluminum sheets.
• Experience with quality control methodologies and conducting root cause analysis.
• Educational credentials include ITI certifications (Fitter, Tool & Die Maker, Turner) or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous involvement with OEM or automotive sheet metal manufacturing is advantageous.
