Job description
Role overview
Transport for NSW is seeking a Precinct Safety Officer based in Wagga Wagga, NSW. This is a permanent, full-time position with an annual salary range of $108,374 to $119,210.
The role suits someone motivated by outcomes that improve everyday life across New South Wales, with a strong personal commitment to health and safety. You’ll be part of a team focused on delivering practical safety improvements so the community can travel with greater confidence.
What you’ll do
You will help deliver road safety results using Safe System principles and transport programs designed around community needs. The position involves supporting the planning and development of safety and network solutions, contributing to behavioural initiatives, assisting with early-stage speed zone reviews, handling stakeholder questions, and using insights and data to guide local decisions.
The work environment is busy and varied, with several priorities and stakeholders to manage at once. In return, the role offers the chance to make a noticeable impact in the region, supported by a collaborative team, a good level of autonomy, and the advantages of regional living.
About you
The ideal candidate has working knowledge of road safety and strong analytical ability, along with confidence in stakeholder engagement. Experience gained in government, transport, infrastructure, compliance, or community-focused roles will be valuable. Backgrounds involving councils, regional communities, or the Wagga Wagga/Riverina area will be especially well regarded.
You should be reliable, team-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable making practical decisions while balancing competing demands. A community-minded approach, resilience, and the ability to use data to support reviews and coordinate programs are important for success in this role.
