Job description
About the Role
Special PR is looking for a PR & Events Manager to help deliver memorable brand activations, shape event strategy, and generate earned media that gets clients noticed. This role sits at the centre of experiences, events, and public relations, turning ideas into polished executions that make a real difference for brands, culture, consumers, and careers.
The agency values originality, creativity, and effectiveness, and expects every team member to contribute to a culture where ideas are seen, heard, and amplified in popular culture. In this position, you will represent both the agency and its clients, working closely with media, partners, suppliers, and internal teams to build relevance, create newsworthy stories, support new business, and strengthen revenue opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Translate briefs into standout event and activation experiences from concept through to completion.
- Coordinate all logistics, suppliers, timelines, and budgets while keeping projects moving smoothly.
- Stay calm and effective during live event delivery, handling pressure and fast-moving situations with confidence.
- Take ownership of on-site execution, including briefing brand ambassadors and suppliers and resolving issues quickly.
- Support event concepts with creative thinking so the work feels current, engaging, and aligned to the client and culture.
- Develop and distribute stories to media and influencers, helping secure coverage and visibility for clients.
- Prepare clear, on-brand writing for press releases, emails, run sheets, pitches, social content, and post-campaign reviews.
- Identify strong news hooks and understand how campaign ideas fit within both traditional media and wider popular culture.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, venues, production partners, media contacts, and other external stakeholders.
- Build trust with clients through reliable delivery, problem-solving, and confident communication.
- Contribute actively in meetings and presentations, speaking up when needed and presenting your work clearly.
- Work collaboratively with the team, helping maintain a well-organised environment and stepping beyond the core job scope when needed.
- Take ownership of your own development by discussing training, growth, and promotion plans with the Head of Brand Experience.
Requirements
- Solid grounding in public relations and event activation or experiential delivery.
- Proven ability to manage multiple moving parts, including logistics, schedules, suppliers, and budgets.
- Comfort working on-site and solving issues in real time during events.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to create polished, purposeful copy.
- Good understanding of media relations, press release writing, and what makes a story newsworthy.
- Creative mindset with the ability to contribute fresh ideas to client briefs and activations.
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and proactive risk awareness.
- Confident interpersonal skills for building relationships with clients, partners, vendors, and media.
- Ability to present in meetings and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
- Growth mindset, willingness to take on challenges, and readiness to stretch beyond comfort zones.
- Self-awareness and the ability to ask for help early when workload or wellbeing becomes difficult.
