Job description
Role Overview
This role involves transporting patients, patient-related documents, and equipment, as well as preparing and cleaning transport equipment. All tasks are performed following established policies and protocols to ensure safety and efficiency within the hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients using mechanical aids such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Attend to patients' needs during transportation and report any unusual patient conditions to appropriate staff according to procedures.
- Move beds, equipment, and materials as required, and provide messenger services when needed.
- Transfer deceased patients from hospital units to the morgue, completing all necessary documentation as per protocols.
- Fill out documentation including transport duration, any delays encountered, and routine dispatch logs as established.
- Clean and maintain equipment used in transport, such as IV poles, stretchers, and wheelchairs; change linens; report maintenance needs or request repairs for equipment.
- Carry out additional related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- At least one year of recent experience in a related field, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with others.
- Good organizational abilities.
- Physical capability to perform required duties.
- Competency in operating patient transport-related equipment.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is CAD $29.24.
