Job description

About the role

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a capable administrator to manage its residential swimming pool inspection program while also providing support to the business support officer function. This role sits within a vibrant regional city in the Goldfields, around 600 kilometres east of Perth, where metropolitan-style amenities are paired with a local community lifestyle.

The City is focused on building a sustainable regional city for the future and is guided by values centred on cleanliness, community, accessible services, economic growth, and being a quality employer. The vacancy will remain open only until a suitable pool of candidates is found, and it may close at any time without prior notice.

The advertised salary package starts from $69,491.39.

Swimming pool barrier inspection duties

  • Coordinate day-to-day pool barrier inspections, including field visits, recordkeeping, and database maintenance.
  • Check and verify database records to keep information accurate and current.
  • Prepare monthly statistical updates covering program activity and progress.
  • Offer guidance and factual information to the public and internal stakeholders.
  • Help maintain, review, and improve operational procedures.
  • Look into pool-related complaints and help resolve issues appropriately.
  • Work in line with City policies, compliance obligations, and safety standards.

Administrative and technical support

  • Respond to counter enquiries and handle incoming phone calls.
  • Provide general assistance on planning and building-related matters.
  • Support customer enquiries by researching information and coordinating with relevant officers.
  • Keep website content and public information current.
  • Assist with the lodgement of building and development applications.
  • Maintain planning and building registers.
  • Research property details and compile relevant information.
  • Support data handling and information matching tasks.
  • Carry out other duties as required, within the scope of the position.

What the City is looking for

The ideal candidate will bring strong administration skills, clear communication, and the ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You should be comfortable interpreting legislation, reading technical drawings and building plans, and using Microsoft Office at an intermediate level. Good organisation, attention to deadlines, and a professional approach to public service are important.

Only applicants with a current National Police Clearance and a valid Western Australian C class driver’s licence should apply. Qualifications in pool safety, building, or a related area are preferred but not mandatory.
