Job description

Role overview

This remote contract position is for a Political Science Quality Assurance Lead who will help maintain the quality, consistency, and performance of trainers and QA contributors on political science AI training programs. The work centers on reviewing AI-generated political science material and reviewer outputs, checking them against project rules, and giving clear written guidance so standards stay high across the team.

You will evaluate content for factual and conceptual accuracy, institutional understanding, comparative context, political theory correctness, policy reasoning, awareness of sources, sensitivity to bias, clarity, formatting, and compliance with task-specific rubrics. The role also includes identifying repeated quality problems, sharing updates with trainers and QAs, supporting onboarding, keeping documentation current, and helping re-engage contributors who are inactive.

This is part of a fast-growing AI data services company that supports major AI labs and model developers. Your work will directly contribute to improving model quality by making sure political science training data is balanced, well-contextualized, accurate, and aligned with client expectations.

There is no active project attached to this role right now. If you are a strong fit, you may be contacted first when relevant opportunities open up, and you may also gain access to future work through the expert network.

Selection process

The hiring process includes an AI interview, a domain-specific assessment, and a conversation with a recruiter.

Requirements

Applicants should have a strong academic background in political science or a closely related field, solid English communication ability, and several years of relevant analytical experience. The role also calls for the ability to review work critically, communicate feedback clearly, and operate effectively in a remote team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review political science tasks and flag issues in quality, accuracy, and completeness before they move forward.
  • Assess AI-written explanations, comparative analysis, policy summaries, political theory content, institutional descriptions, and reasoning for soundness and balance.
  • Keep trainers and QAs informed about guideline changes, workflow updates, project expectations, and review standards through remote communication channels.
  • Answer questions from contributors promptly, especially when they relate to institutions, comparative politics, public policy, political theory, international relations, bias, or rubric interpretation.
  • Reach out to inactive contributors, track follow-ups, and surface availability concerns when needed.
  • Build and maintain supporting documents such as style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding resources.
  • Run onboarding and training sessions that explain project goals, workflows, rubrics, and political-science-specific quality expectations.
  • Make sure all reviewers apply the same standards consistently as project requirements change over time.
  • Identify one-sided, misleading, outdated, unsupported, or inflammatory claims and raise them as risks.
  • Recommend process improvements and help design scalable QA workflows for political science training projects.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in political science research, teaching, policy analysis, public affairs, international relations, political writing, academic review, or similar analytical work. A background in political institutions, comparative politics, governance, electoral systems, state capacity, civil society, and political behavior is important.

Experience with democracy and authoritarianism, political economy, public administration, constitutional systems, election-related work, conflict studies, international organizations, policy evaluation, or survey research is a plus. Prior exposure to remote leadership, AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, policy QA, fact-checking, or rubric-based review would also be valuable.

Candidates should be highly organized, comfortable maintaining documentation and trackers, and able to work in fast-moving remote setups using collaboration tools and project management systems.

Additional information

This is an hourly remote contractor role, and the company notes that the role is intended for experts who can support future project work as it becomes available. Strong political science expertise, structured communication, close attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate quality workflows across distributed teams are central to success in this position.

The project environment may involve tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and other task-management systems.
