Job description
About the team
Mind is planning for ambitious growth over the coming years and is looking for people who can help turn those plans into reality. The organisation’s wider goal is to make sure that people living with mental health problems receive the support and dignity they deserve.
Team overview
The Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns team works to shape the choices and actions that affect the lives of people experiencing mental health problems. The team combines evidence, lived experience and public backing to create policy ideas, run effective campaigns and influence decision-makers across all levels.
This Policy and Influencing Assistant position is an important support role within that work and offers an entry-level route into policy and influencing for someone passionate about mental health.
Applications are especially encouraged from people who understand mental health challenges and how they connect with poverty, racial inequality and the experiences of young people. That understanding may come from personal lived experience or from learning and research.
If you are driven by the chance to create real-world change, Mind welcomes your application. Candidates should send a CV and answer the person specification questions in the job description, explaining why they are a strong match for the role.
Key duties
- Help shape evidence-led policy positions across projects focused on improving access to high-quality mental health services.
- Assist in producing clear, engaging materials that present Mind’s policy views to the right audiences, including reports, briefings and consultation submissions.
- Support efforts to make equity central to policy development, including involving people with lived experience in the design and refinement of policy positions.
- Contribute to cross-team influencing plans that support the organisation’s priority influencing goals.
- Track incoming questions and requests for the Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns team, direct them to the right colleagues and respond where appropriate.
Equality statement
Mind promotes equal opportunity for all staff and welcomes applicants regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, and marriage or civil partnership status.
Applicants are asked to use the job description as a guide when completing their application, as shortlisting will be based on how closely they meet the personal specification.
