Police Wellness Coordinator

Overview

The Chesterfield County Police Department is seeking a full-time Police Wellness Coordinator located in Chesterfield, VA. The annual salary range is $68,851 to $92,947. This position supports comprehensive wellness initiatives aimed at promoting the health and wellbeing of all department members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Public Health, Human Services, or a closely related area.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in employee wellness, physical fitness coaching, human performance, health promotion, or nutrition counseling, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Preferred certifications include DCJS general instructor and personal training certifications; these may be obtained post-hire.
• In-depth understanding of holistic wellness principles covering physical, emotional, mental, social, financial, and overall employee health, with the ability to develop practical programs tailored to public safety personnel.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to design and facilitate wellness programs engaging all ranks and divisions.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening, FBI criminal background check, and education verification.
• The role is classified as Critical Safety Sensitive, requiring compliance with random drug and alcohol testing policies; illegal drug use and marijuana use (medical or otherwise) are strictly prohibited.
• Strict adherence to the US DOJ Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy with a thorough background check is mandatory.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents eligible for naturalization.

Role Responsibilities

• Identify and disseminate health and wellness resources and trainings for department personnel.
• Lead and coordinate the wellness team, including training wellness ambassadors and representatives.
• Collaborate with Command Staff, the training academy, County HR, and other divisions to integrate wellness into departmental culture.
• Serve as an active member of the PEER support team.
• Maintain and update wellness-related documentation, standard operating procedures, and resource materials.
• Communicate wellness information and updates through newsletters and informational displays.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This full-time, onsite position involves working primarily Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours. The role is located within the Police Department facilities in Chesterfield County.
